  • Topic: Type I exhaust outlet termination locations on roof in zero lot line situation

  • Question: This regards the intent of FBC 2017 Mechanical 506.3.13.3 and 506.5.5 for Type I exhaust outlet termination locations. Can roof exhaust outlets be located 5' or even 2' (an exception from 10') horizontally from the adjoining neighbor's parapet wall (zero lot line situation) if the top of the fan discharge opening is several feet lower than both the top of the parapet wall, and the roofline of the adjoining property on the other side of the parapet wall. Phrased another way, must the fan discharge opening be above the adjoining property roofline?
