Question:
I am installing an "all-in-one" combo non-venting washer/dryer which runs on 110 electrical in a bathroom closet with a louvered door. The bathroom has a window as well as a fan that vents to the exterior. In the laundry closet there is a 110 outlet and the hot/cold water supply and drain. I was told I needed to also install a 220 electrical outlet as well as a dryer vent in the area even though these are not needed for the combo washer/dryer which is vent-less and runs on 110 power. When I asked for details it was not provided. She indicated it was a safety concern..."a future owner of the house might confuse a 110 outlet with a 220 source needed for their washer/dryer." I couldn't understand how this could happen as the outlet/plug types are completely different. I also couldn't understand the need to punch a hole in the house in advance of a possible future owner needing a dryer vent when I had a vent-less washer/dryer. None of this made sense and I was hoping for a non-bind interpretation of the code (whatever it may be) to see if it was anywhere near her interpretation.
