Question
Just trying to determine specifically when this section applies... Does it apply when "repairs" to the roof are occurring (you'll note it does not occur under Chapter 6 Repairs), or only when "alterations - level 1" are occurring (because it is under Chapter 7 Alterations - Level 1)? If it is to only be applied during alterations, and not repairs, why is the word "repair" used right in the language?

Yes, Section 708 applies to repairs and reroofing. There is a declaratory statement which addressed this matter. The declaratory statement contained this question, “Does the repair of roof coverings performed in accordance with Chapter 6 of the 5th Edition (2014) Florida Building Code, Existing Building need to comply with the requirements of Section 708 Reroofing?” Briefly, the answer provided was “Yes”.
