Question

Is it the intent of 706.4 to require window and door flashing as per section 703.8 for window and door replacements?

According to the Florida Building Code - Existing Buildings

volume, replacement windows are alterations requiring

compliance with new work flashing requirements per existing

code 401.2.2 or 702.4. Flashing is required by FBC -

Residential, sections R703.1 and R703.8.

Commentary

As a note, section 706.4 of the FBC-EB 5th Edition, requires compliance with Chapter 16 of the FBC-B.
