Regarding the requirement for natural ventilation of an open parking garage, is it the intent of section 406.3.2, the definition of “open parking garage” (attached) to permit a properly constructed and protected four (4) story parking garage to abut another four (4) story building or structure on two (2) sides where the two (2) walls of the parking garage that do not abut other structures are separated by a distance of at least ten feet (10’) to the other buildings or structures and open to the sky? 406.3.2 Definitions. The following words and terms shall, for the purposes of this chapter and as used elsewhere in this code, have the meanings shown herein. OPEN PARKING GARAGE. A structure or portion of a structure with the openings as described in Section 406.3.3.1 on two or more sides that is used for the parking or storage of private motor vehicles as described in Section 406.3.4.
