  • Question: Is it the intent of the exceptions listed in section 607.5.2 to also be applicable to section 607.5.3 without having to add on the exceptions in 607.5.3?

No, the exceptions are limited to the corresponding code
section on partition or barrier.

Commentary:

The cross reference mentioned in the question is not allowed by the code. There are exceptions that apply for fire partitions and different exceptions that apply for fire barriers.
