Question
Is it the intent of Florida Building Code Section 310.1 to require an existing 1 or 2 family dwelling, regulated by the Florida Residential Code, to undergo a "change of occupancy classification" to R1 when licensed for transient rental as a 1 or 2 family "resort dwelling", and then require automatic sprinkler protection?

A Change of Use / Occupancy would be required, both for FBC
and local zoning requirements. The sprinkler system
question can only answered by considering the requirements
of Chapter 26 of NFPA 101 for the specific project layout
that is being proposed.
