According to R402.2.4 Does cardboard baffles qualify as wood-framed or equivalent baffles?

R402.2.4 requires equivalent protection. This is up to the AHJ to determine, what the code is asking for is protection of loose fill insulation to prevent it entering the living space any time the attic hatch is open, cardboard, OSB, fiberboard or other materials may achieve this and provide equivalency.
