Question
Does section 305.3 pipes going through a foundation wall apply to pool piping (supply or return piping) ?

Pool piping passing through pool shell walls is not required to be protected with a sleeve in accordance with Section 305.3. However, if pool piping passes through a structural foundation wall it should be protected in accordance with Section 305.3.
Commentary
A pool shell wall is typically not a foundation wall and therefore the piping protection would not be applicable for pool shell walls such as we see on a gunite pool.
With that said, if the question is pertaining to a building foundation wall where pool piping passes through the structural foundation wall. such as if the pool is inside of the structure and the equipment is located outside of the building or where pool piping passes through foundation walls of a pool equipment room. In this case, the pool piping should be protected where it passes through the structural foundation walls.
