Question

When applying Supplement 5 Approved by the FBC Commision December 10, 2024 regarding the exception of 1101.6 to utilize ASHRAE Standard 15, 2022 for A2L design and installation, is it permissible to utilize ASHRAE Standard 15.2 for indivdual dwelling units and sleeping units located in a multifamily dwelling?

Yes, ASHRAE 15 makes reference to the Building Code, not the Residential Code. The requirements for shaft enclosures in the FBC can be found in Section 713.

Commentary

Supplements become effective and are considered a part of the Florida Building Code once adopted by the Commission. Supplement 5 was adopted by the Florida Building Commission December 10, 2024 and added the exception for the use of ASHRAE 15.
