What determines/defines a "Screen", in the language "Screens shall not be installed at the duct termination?"
Are bars, cage, ribs and/or grilles allowable?

The intent of this section is to allow the free-flow of air and lint out of the dryer exhaust terminal. Restrictions in flow can create unsafe conditions. The use of the word "screen" is general, as it is referencing any "barrier" that may create such conditions.
Commentary
Screens, bars, grills ribs or louvers of any kind are not allowed on clothes dryer vents because they may clog up and block the air being vented from the dryer, which in turn may cause the dryer exhaust duct to become full of lint and then could cause a fire. The only thing allowed on the dryer vent exist is a flap to help keep out bugs.
