The Florida Building Code, Chapter 35, contains the list of referenced documents and standards referred to throughout the code. Rather than place each and every referenced piece of information, around 500 of them, in the Code and be required to maintain and update that information, in addition to concerns regarding copyright laws, section 102.4, copied below from Chapter 1 of the 6th edition FBC makes it clear the specific sections referred to are considered to be a part of the FBC and complied with as if written in the book, This is why it is important for practitioners of the FBC to not only have the FBC, but, the referenced standards as well, or at least the portions of the standards that are referred to in the code. [A]102.4 Referenced codes and standards. The codes and standards referenced in this code shall be considered part of the requirements of this code to the prescribed extent of each such reference and as further regulated in Sections 102.4.1 and 102.4.2. This section applies to all building power distribution systems. The provisions for electrical distribution for all sections of this code are subject to the design conditions in ASHRAE Standard 90.1.
