Question
Do the provisions of Section 1405.4 of the "Florida Building Code, Building" apply to an existing building of 40 years old or is it governed by the provisions of the "Florida Building Code, Existing Building"?

Refer to Section 101.4 in the FBC-Building. "The other codes listed in Sections 101.4.1 through 101.4.9 and referenced elsewhere in this code shall be considered part of the requirements of this code to the prescribed extent of each such reference."
Section 101.4.7 Existing buildings. "the provisions of the Florida Building, Existing Building shall apply to matters governing the repair, alteration, change of occupancy, addition to and relocation of existing buildings."
That section tells you to go directly to the FBC-Existing Building book for window and door replacement. That code may refer back to the FBC-Building.
