- Existing Exterior Concrete Block Walls enclosed within an addition by the construction of three (3) new framed exterior walls.
Question
Is it the intent of the Florida Existing Building Code to require an existing exterior concrete block wall to be altered by the addition of furring strips, drywall, receptacles, trim, paint or any other materials or systems when its is enclosed by the construction of three (3) new framed exterior walls to create an addition to the existing building when there are no nonconformities created by the new construction?

Based on the question, it appears if the existing walls are to become part of the interior space of the addition, requirements for spacing of outlets, light, and ventilation would have to be satisfied. There is no requirement to provide a finish such as drywall. There is no indication of what the occupancy is so wall-mounted electrical boxes and surface mounted conduit could be an option,
