Does Florida Statue 553.73 do away with the self closing device in single family homes and town houses?

Yes. Effective July 1, 2017, for FBC 5th Edition and carried into FBC 6th Edition. Rule change for FBC 5th Edition in-process, but the effective date of July 1, 2017, set in statute.
