Question

Is it the intent of code section 606.1 #6 to require full open valves at the entrance to each hotel or motel unit if that unit has cooking equipment?

The intent is to have an individual shutoff for each unit, possibly 2 if both hot and cold are supplied independently.

Commentary

The definitions create some possible confusion with the wording. The intent is clear and also explained in the commentary. typically a branch supply will run the length of the corridor or building and will be tapped for each unit. the supply to each unit should be provided with a shutoff for maintenance purposes within the unit.
