Yes. A new A/C system is new work and must comply. That being said, if the ductwork, condensate drain or refrigeration lines will work for the new system they are allowed to remain as they are. You only have to make the connections to them according to current code. For example, if the existing condensate drain was reused, extending the outside termination 12” off the wall could be an overreach. On the other hand, an overflow switch or secondary drain would be installed at the unit prior to the connection to the existing condensate drain.
