The manual opening of a powered horizontal sliding door or the some sort of manual horizontal sliding door . Section 1008.1.2 requires egress doors to be of the pivoted or side-hinged type and provides some Exceptions. Exception 6 permits horizontal sliding doors complying with Section 1008.4.3, which is the Section questioned by the requester. Section 1008.1.4.3 is the first requirement call for the doors to be power operated and capable of being opened manually. This is not a manual horizontal sliding door. Further, 1008.1.4.2 contains provisions related to "power-assisted manual operation" and an Exception permits horizontal sliding doors per Section 1008.1.4.3. Manually operated horizontal sliding doors are only permitted from spaces with an occupant load of 10 or less. With the given information, yes it is restricted to 1008.1.2 and no, a manually operated horizontal sliding door may not be used in the means of egress , unless the space has an occupant load of 10 or less.
