Question

Section 1405.10 Adhered Masonry Veneer does not seem to
be applicable for exterior stone veneer applications. Is the
intent of the code to limit adhered masonry veneers to interior
applications only?

Secondly, there is no mention of stone veneers for
applications above 150mph wind speeds. Is the intent of the
code that stone veneers in exterior applications in HVHZ be
engineered systems and or be applied per product approvals
only?

See 1405.7, otherwise an engineered system would be correct.

Commentary

The proper section for stone veneer is 1405.7. The requester seems to be confused as to what section regulates the product in question. Adhered masonry veneers are addressed at Section 1405.10; Section 1405.10.2 addresses exterior adhered masonry veneers; Section 1405.10.3 addresses interior adhered masonry veneers; and Section 1405.7 addresses stone veneers.
