Question

Is it the intent of 2004 Florida Building Code that the structural wall framing assembly behind stucco be designed to a wind performance criteria of l/240 deflection?

Yes

Commentary

The ASTM also requires the fasteners for the wire to attach to the studs with the studs spaced no more than 16 inches o.c. This spacing often solves the deflection issue. We would also point out the table has been expanded in the 5th Edition and specifically identifies plaster or stucco with a deflection limit of l/360.
