Can an air handler be placed in an attic with a sloped floor or bottom chord of truss?

Probably, if the equipment can be serviced and replaced
directly through the required opening per Exc. 1. AND
compliance with Energy Code R403.2.4 is met.

Commentary
The unit could be put into the attic without having to
service it through the opening provided the unit access and
service space complies with section FBC Residential-M1305.1,
FBC Residential-M1305.1.3, and FBC Energy
Conservation-R403.2.4. It could be a large truss space!
Otherwise, the size, etc. of the servicing platform
requirements must meet the provisions of FBC-EC R403.4. Must
be a very large cathedral space for someone to get to the
unit to work on it.
