Is it the intent of 1035.3 to allow an NFPA 13 AND 13R automatic sprinkler system as in 1014.3 exception (4) to allow the increase in common path of travel to 125 feet?

As it applies to R-1 Occupancies - No. Sprinkler systems in
R-1 facilities are required to be NFPA 13 systems with some
allowance for NFPA 13R systems in the guest areas of an R-1
occupancy. A major difference in the sections is the
inclusion of R-1 in s.1035.3. The requester also ignores
Exception 6 to s.1014.3.
As it applies to R-2 Occupancies - Yes. As the applicant
specifically references R-2, a residential system was
intended to allow a longer travel distance within the unit
per 1014.3, Exc. 4. as the section addresses specifically
R-2 by itself.
