Question
Is it the intent of the code to require the kitchen makeup air (roof top) duct to have additional corrosion protection, besides the duct made out of galvanized steel?

No additional protection is required.
Commentary
The Code is a minimum standard and adding additional
protection or exceeding the requirements is not prohibited,
although not required.
