Question

Is it the intent of: 680.51 (A) to require 12 Volt transformers for a fountain (NO COMMON WATER WITH A POOL) lights to comply with 680.23 (A) (2) or is this section only requiring the transformers to be GFCI protected?

Commentary

This article does not require the installation described to comply with 680.23 (A)(2), This article provides the installer a choice based on the equipment they are installing. It says: (1) the equipment is required to be protected by ground fault circuit interrupter or, (2) the equipment is listed for operation at 15 volts or less and is supplied by a transformer that complies with article 680.23(A)(2)
