Question
Is it the intent of 607.3.3.2, exception 4 to allow any smoke damper located in a duct at a penetration of a corridor wall to be actuated by a corridor smoke detection system and alleviate the requirement for a duct smoke detector within 5 feet of the damper, regardless of where the inlets/outlets connected to that duct are located?

FMC 607.3.3.2, Method 4, allows the use a smoke detection
system installed in a corridor OR a total coverage system
in the building to control a smoke damper installed in a
corridor wall or ceiling.
