Question
Is it the intent of section 505.1,when the code section indicates "such ducts shall have smooth inner walls", that the use of flexible and semi- rigid corrugated ducts provided by the manufacturer is allowable under Exception #1 which indicates, "Where installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions."

FMC 505.1, Exception #1 refers to cases where listed and
labeled "recirculating hoods" are used, in such
applications hoods are not required to discharge to the
outdoors. As long as ventilation to the kichen is in
compliance with options provided in Chapter 4
