Question
Is it the intent of of the code to required that domestic pumps and domestic pumping systems conform to NSF 61 as for water distribution "pipe"

Commentary
The section specified applies specifically to pumps used in
the water supply. Section 602.3 is intended for on site
water supplies. 602.3.5 states the pump shall be "rated for
the transport of water." This indicates some type of
testing and labeling acceptable to the Code official.
Materials used in plumbing systems are called out in
Chapter 3, section 303 and Chapter 6, section 605.
Further, individual water supplies may include wells per
�602.3.1; however, �602.3.5 does not specify a standard
for the pump. Section 602.3 requires individual sources of
potable water supply to meet the requirements of Ch. 373
FS. Statute calls for wells to comply with FBCP �612
(sic). The section number has changed in FBCP 2010 to
�614. Nether statute nor FBCP �614 mention a standard for
the pump.
