Interpretation #7293

Previously issued interpretations from BOAF are inconsistent with one another; Interpretations 7271 and 7199 indicate that redundant site water supply connections are not required; however Interpretation 7215 indicates that the redundant water supply connection is required. The language of code is very clear and does not provide any exceptions for high rise buildings. - There are no exceptions for high-rise buildings not located in earthquake zones (as suggested by Interpretation 7271). - The intent of Section 403.3.2 of the FBC is not to require a secondary on-site water supply (as suggested by Interpretation 7199). It is requested that BOAF issue a clarifying interpretation void of non-relevant information and taking into account both the strict letter of the code and as well as the intent as described below.
