Commentary
ASHRAE Guideline 5, COMMISIONING SMOKE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
ASHRAE Guideline 5 states the following under definitions,
COMMISSIONING AUTHORITY: “There are many options as to
which party to the commissioning process will be
the “authority”. The design professional, contractor,
independent commissioning agency, or owner may be the
commissioning authority”
The designer of the smoke control system is probably the
best for inspection of that system.
This appears to be a Florida specific amendment
incorporating language from the IBC 2012. It was not in the
IBC 2009.
