Question
Is it the intent of this section on shielding devices to require that if a person is standing at a hand dryer they cannot be seen from a corridor if there is no door on the restroom.

room, yes a partition or shielding
device is required. The code requires
to block the view of the occupants in
the toilet room, not from a particular
area in the toilet room.

Commentary
A shielding device is required by
code, whether it is a door, partition
or some other type of device to shield
the occupants from view at all times
while the occupants are inside the
toilet room area.
NOTE: 443 only applies to
Schools, Colleges and Universities.
