Question
Is it the intent of 306.1 of the Mechanical code to have a working platform for condensers or is this just for furnaces and air handlers.

This requirement applies to "appliances"
as defined in the Code. Condensing
units are "appliances." A 30" x 30"
level working space is required. A
platform is not necessarily required.

ground, the floor, or a level rooftop

Commentary
The code is a minimum so please check the a/c
manufacturer's installation requirements for possible
additional working clearance requirements.
