1609.1.2 requires opening protection to meet the
requirements of ASTM E 1996. Is it the intent of the

No, as stated in the standard, Wind Zone 4 is optional. The
Florida Building Commission approved a glitch amendment in
June to the building and residential codes realigning Wind
Zone 4 changing the trigger wind speed to 170 mph to apply
to Miami-Dade and a portion of Monroe Counties.
