Question
Is it the intent of table 403.3 to require mechanical exhaust for kitchens in private dwelling units?

Designers should comply with either section 402 or 403 (see
401.2). If compliance for space ventilation is
accomplished by meeting the technical specifications listed
in section 402, then there is no reason to meet the
specifications of section 403.
