Question
Is it the intent of the modification to the wording on note "h" in Table 403.3 to change the requirements for Nail Salons or to Clarify the existing 2007 Mechanical Code reqirements?

Yes. There is an increase to 50 CFM per station. The
source capture system is required IN ADDITION to the other
403.3 requirements for nail salons. A ventilation table OR
other exhaust system that captures the odors or
contaminants at the sourse can be used to achieve code
compliance.

Commentary
This section is referencing the fact that some nail tables
have a built-in exhaust system as part of the table design.
Otherwise, the exhaust system could be any other system
which can capture the odors or contaminants at the
source which is at the table height not at the ceiling
level. The exhaust must be a minimum of 50 CFM's per
station. The 2010 FMC 403.3 clarifies and emphasizes the
requirement for capturing the odors or contaminants at the
source.
