Question

Is it the intent of the Florida Building Code Exsisting Building to require an exsisting (A-2) restaurant, with more than 100 seats, add an outdoor open-air patio without installing a fire sprinkler system in the exsisting building.

Commentary

First the code should be the Existing Building Code Chapter- 10. The addition cannot cause a new or additional code non-conforming situation, or expand an existing non-conforming situation. Therefore, each project requires an evaluation by the AHJ.
