Question

Is it the intent of FBC-Building section 706.5 exception #2 and section 707.12 to allow 1 hour rated fire barrier walls enclosing an interior exit stairway to be constructed to the underside of the building’s 1 hour rated roof/ceiling assembly? The stair enclosure walls are masonry and the building roof/ceiling assembly consists of a 5/8 inch Type X drywall ceiling attached to the underside of trusses with attic space and roof deck above.

No. 707.12 describes the requirement for the top of shafts
that do not extend to the roof.
