Question
Is it the intent of FBC Mechanical 514.2 to prohibit all hazardous exhaust ( covered in Section 510) from being a source for energy recovery systems.

Yes, the code specifically prohibits hazardous exhaust from
being part of an ERV system. However, technology will
always outpace the Code development process. If sufficient
documentation can be provided to the Building Offical in
accordance with FBC Adminsitrative Section 104.11 to
determine the safety of the design as an alternative,
equivalent system, then, a request for approval could be
considered by the Building Official on a case-by-case
basis.
