Question

Is it the intent of Table 1017.1 Footnote "C" to require smokeproof exit access corridors which lead to the exit discharge from enclosed classrooms which can only be accessed from an open plan school layout?

Assuming that the building is fully sprinkled, and if there
are corridors, the corridors will be required to be
smokeproof.

Commentary

If the open plan meets all of the requirements of an intervening space by both Section 1014.2, Florida Building Code and Section 14.2.5.5(2), of the Florida Fire Prevention Code, the enclosed classrooms can egress through the open plan.
