Question

Is it the intent of Section 406 to require a whole building air leakage performance test?

No, the building does not go through the test. The
individual products used to comprise the air barrier would
have to meet the test standard and be installed according to
the listing of the said products.

Commentary

Acoustical tiles and T-bar grid systems do not constitute an air barrier to separate conditioned and unconditioned spaces.
