Question

Is it the intent of Florida Building Code - Building Section 2220.3 to consider UL listed fireproofing material as an "other approved material" whereby the steel would not be required to have the shop and field coatings applied?

Commentary

The "coatings" the code is referring to is "a corrosion- resistive metallic coating" not a fireproofing coating. In addition, "approved" as defined by the code means "Acceptable to the code official or authority having jurisdiction."
