  • Question: In the exception to 706.1.1, what is the interpretation of the use of "portion" for a roof?

Answer:

A building can have multiple roof sections; others may only have one or two. Typically, each roof plane is treated as that's roof portion, or section. Also refer to Chapter 2 for the definition of a roof section.
