  • Code Description:
  • Chapter:
  • Section: 320.1
  • Topic: CLEAR OPENING OF AT LEAST ONE BATH/TOILET ROOM DOOR

  • Question: Should "clear opening" as defined in the FBC - Accessibility be used to determine the required 29" clear opening as required per section 420.1 in the FBC - Residential volume which does not define this term?

Answer:

Since this is written in the Florida Accessibility Code for Building Construction this requirement is applicable as defined with the language of the statute. To meet this you would be required to provide a minimum 32 inch door.
