  • Question: Is it the intent of R311.3.3 to limit screen doors from swinging over steps that have more than two risers?

Answer:

The Code is clear and makes no distinction as to the type
of door. The same hazard exists if one tries to back down a
set of steps when opening any door. A landing appears to be
required for the application as described.
