Original Request

  • Request ID: 8561
  • Requested By: ayme pappas
  • Requester E-Mail: ayme@bdpinc.net
  • Code Version: 2010
  • Code: BUILDING
  • Code Description:
  • Chapter: 1
  • Section: 107.4
  • Topic: AC Condensate drain line
  • Question: Does this code apply to where an AC condensate line is changed from the original plan?
  • Comment: If a line is missed at the underground phase and is run at rough stage through a non bearing wall or is broken under the slab, will an architect or engineer letter be needed to submit for amended plans?

Existing Interpretations and/or Declaratory Statements Related to this request

Input Received:

Yes. Plans need to reflect the work being done. If field work modifies what is shown on the reviewed set of plans, that modification needs to be submitted for review.
If plans are done by a State of Florida licensed design professional, their FS and Rule. (471 or 481), would require the amended design.
The plans need to match the work so a revision is required. If the system was not designed by a design professional and not required to be designed by a design professional than the installing ac contractor would be able to design the revision
I think the question should be returned to the requester for completion. I can guess what he or she is talking about but will not answer based on a guess.
The amended plans prepared by a person certified under F.S. 471, 481 or 489 must reflect the work done, and NO an architect or engineers letter will no suffice.

Answer:

The plans need to match the work so a revision is required. If the system was not designed by a design professional and not required to be designed by a design professional than the installing ac contractor would be able to design the revision. If plans are done by a State of Florida licensed design professional, then FS 471 or 481 and the accompanying rule would require the amended design.
