  • Requester E-Mail: steve.innes@mlbfl.org
  • Code Version: 2021
  • Code: EXTBLDG
  • Code Description:
  • Chapter:
  • Section: 702.5
  • Topic: FBC Existing Buildings 702.5 and 505.3 Replacement window emergency escape and rescue openings.
  • Question: Is it the intent of section 702.5(1) and 505.3(1) Replacement window emergency escape and rescue openings, to allow the replacement window (which is impact glass single hung) to have a smaller opening size that the existing window (non-impact glass single hung)?
  • Comment: The window in question is the manufactures largest standard size window that will fit in the opening but has reduced the opening size from 16 inches to 10 inches. The window is not part of a change of occupancy.
