Original Request

  • Request ID: 8524
  • Requested By: Alexis Riveron
  • Requester E-Mail: lmoreno@hialeahfl.gov
  • Code Version: 2021
  • Code: BUILDING
  • Code Description:
  • Chapter:
  • Section: 1015.4
  • Topic: Railing Opening limitation & orientation of pickets.
  • Question: Is it the intent of the code to only limit the size of the openings in guards/railings without taking into account the orientation of the pickets?
  • Comment: Certain concerns have been raised about balcony railings with horizontal pickets and the ease with which a small child can climb them. Most recently, emphasis has been placed on swimming pool barriers and making them non-climbable to avoid a small child from possibly drowning. Should this concern also apply to railings and guards?
