Original Request

  • Request ID: 8508
  • Date Submitted: February 01, 2021
  • Requested By: Brett Carlton
  • Code: Building
  • Edition: 2021
  • Chapter:
  • Section: 102.6.1
  • Topic: Building not previously occupied
  • Question:
Is it the intent of 102.6.1 to require a townhouse building that was completed through rough inspections and issued a Certificate of completion under the 6th edition, to comply with the current code, 7th edition, when a new permit, application date January 2021, for interior improvement is applied for and resulting in a Certificate of Occupancy?
  • Comments:
Townhouse permit issued under 6th edition, scope of work included completion of the building through rough inspections. Townhouse permit was completed with a Certificate of completion. A new permit for interior improvement was applied for in January 2021 for completion of the interiors in order to obtain a Certificate of Completion. Does the portion of the structure that was completed under the previous code, need to comply with the current code?
