  • Chapter: Chapter 30-Elevators and Conveying Systems
  • Section: 3005.2
  • Topic: Fire Command Centers and Elevator Control Rooms
  • Question:
Per FBC 2017 Section 3005.2 – Is the Fire Command Center of a High-rise building considered an elevator control/machine room and as such is it required to be ventilated or air-conditioned?
  • Comments:
We've run into a couple projects lately where the AHJ inspectors are requiring, at the last minute, for us to put HVAC equipment serving the fire commend center on emergency power. We believe that this is incorrect and that the fire command room is technically not even required to be conditioned, let alone be required to have conditioning on emergency power.
